Moving Perim to a New iPhone: Preserve Your Journal First

Prepare for an iPhone change by preserving Perim history, checking device backups, and separating journal restoration from restoring purchases.

Preserve the record before changing devices

A locally stored journal depends on the device and the backup or transfer method you use. Reinstalling the app is not by itself proof that the entries will return. Start by confirming which history matters and how you can preserve a readable copy.

Perim's current Perim current App Store listing describes locally stored core journal data and appointment PDFs. Generate a report if that option is available in your version, inspect the dates, and save it somewhere you control. A PDF is a useful fallback record, not necessarily a restorable app database.

Check backup instead of assuming it

Follow the Apple iCloud backup instructions for your chosen device backup approach. Review whether a recent backup completed and what information is included. A backup status should be checked before you erase the old phone, not after.

The site's Perim policy says journal entries are included in normal device backups controlled through iOS settings. However, this guide does not claim a hands-on transfer test for every configuration. Confirm the current app behavior with support if the history is important or the setup is unclear.

Keep the sequence reversible

  1. Preserve a readable report of important history.
  2. Check that the chosen backup or transfer completed.
  3. Set up the new phone using Apple's documented process.
  4. Open Perim and inspect several old dates.
  5. Confirm recent and older entries, notes, and reports where relevant.
  6. Retire the old device only after verification.

Avoid resetting both devices while diagnosing a problem. The old phone may contain the only complete accessible copy. If entries are missing, stop and ask support about your exact app and iOS versions.

Separate purchase restoration from data restoration

TaskWhat success looks like
App installationPerim opens on the new phone
Purchase restorationThe expected paid access is recognized
Journal restorationThe expected dated entries are present
Report preservationA readable copy opens independently
Optional online accessThe feature works under current terms

Passing one row does not establish the others. A recognized subscription can coexist with an empty diary, and a diary may be present even before a purchase is recognized.

Inspect more than the home screen

Check an entry from the last week and one from further back. Read an associated note, then review the same interval you used before moving. Look for gaps or duplicate dates. If an output looks different, distinguish missing data from a display or filter change.

Do not overwrite uncertain history by entering guessed old scores. Preserve the readable report and describe the gap accurately while resolving the restoration issue.

Understand what this checklist cannot guarantee

The process reduces the risk of discovering a missing journal after erasing the old device, but it cannot guarantee restoration for every backup setup. It also does not establish a direct app-to-app import or cloud journal account. Perim's optional online features are separate from the core journal storage.

Use Perim support for current recovery questions. For broader storage decisions, read the on-device privacy guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will reinstalling Perim restore my journal?

Do not assume that. Restoration depends on the supported backup or transfer process and configuration.

Is restoring Pro the same as restoring entries?

No. Purchase access and journal data are separate verification tasks.

Can a PDF restore my app database?

Not necessarily. A PDF preserves a readable summary and may not support import into the app.

When should I erase the old iPhone?

After verifying the important journal history on the new phone and preserving your fallback record.
