Chadmaxx App: Is the South Park Face-Rating App Real?

Is the Chadmaxx App Real?
No. Chadmaxx is a made-up app from South Park. In "You Like That On Your Face" (Season 29, Episode 3, first aired October 14, 2026), the kids and adults of South Park take selfies, get a score out of 10 and are then pushed toward products that promise to raise it. The joke is that the app makes money from the insecurity it creates.
You may also see the name spelled Chad Maxx, Chadmax or Chadmaxxing. They all point back to the same episode and the same idea: "Chad" as internet slang for an idealized, dominant-looking man, plus "maxxing", the looksmaxxing habit of trying to maximize one trait at a time.
What the Chadmaxx App Does in the Episode
- Scores a selfie out of 10. Stan gets a 4.2. His dad Randy gets a 3.6 and takes it personally.
- Sells the fix. Stan is pointed toward about $90 of skincare, and Randy is nudged toward Sephora.
- Creates a leaderboard. The rival in Ike's live-streamed aura battle is known for holding a perfect Chadmaxx score.
- Turns looks into status. The score becomes social currency at school, which is the part South Park is really mocking.
The episode also pokes at aura farming, mewing, "mogging" and creator culture around looksmaxxing. If you are new to those terms, our guide to what chadmaxxing means explains each one.
Is There a Real App Called ChadMaxx?
Yes, but it has nothing to do with South Park. As of October 2026 the App Store lists an unrelated app named ChadMaxx: Looksmaxx Tracker from an independent developer, released in May 2026, and a similar one called ChadMax: AI Looksmaxing Mog. Both predate the episode and have very few ratings. The South Park team did not make them, and they are not "the app from the show".
If you search for the Chadmaxx app because of the episode, what you probably want is the real category the show is parodying: AI face-scan and looksmaxxing apps. The biggest are Umax, LooksMax AI and PSL, each with tens of thousands of App Store ratings. We compare them, along with our own app, in the best real apps like Chadmaxx.
What South Park Gets Right About Face-Rating Apps
Satire works when it is close to the truth. Three things in the episode are worth taking seriously before you scan your own face:
- A score is an estimate, not a verdict. Lighting, lens distance, head tilt and expression can move a face rating more than any real change. Our explainer on why face rating scores change shows how much.
- The upsell is the business model. Many looksmaxxing apps are free to download and then charge weekly. Read the renewal price on Apple's purchase sheet, not the discount banner.
- Comparing yourself to a "perfect" score rarely helps. The useful question is what you can practise this week, such as posture, sleep, grooming or a short routine, and not how far you are from someone else's number.
A Real Alternative to the Chadmaxx App: Maxilla
Maxilla is our iPhone app, built by Flag Apps. It is not affiliated with South Park or the fictional Chadmaxx. It takes the part of the idea that can actually help, a face scan, and connects it to something you can do each day:
- A guided AI face scan with live face tracking, covering chin, jawline, cheekbones, eye area and facial leanness.
- Daily routines for jawline and mewing, morning depuff, posture, abs, shoulders and skin, with no gym or equipment.
- Weekly goals, streaks and rescans, so you track what you did and not only a number.
- Photos are processed only for the analysis you request and are not used to train models.
Maxilla uses a weekly auto-renewing subscription for full scan results and plans. The price is shown before you confirm, and you can cancel any time in your Apple ID settings. It is a self-improvement app, not medical, dental or orthodontic advice. If you have jaw pain, clicking or locking, see a professional; the NIDCR explains why.
Bottom Line
Chadmaxx is a South Park joke about apps that rate your face and then sell you the cure. You cannot download the show's version, and any app claiming to be the official one is not. If the episode made you curious about your own scan, use a real app with clear pricing, private photos and a plan you can follow, and keep the score in perspective.
Try Maxilla on iPhone, or see the Maxilla app page for features and guides.
